Caminata Panorámica | Annual Scenic Hike across Puerto Rico

Join me for the annual scenic hike across the entire island of Puerto Rico, east coast to west cost every weekend in February and March.

For over 30 years, Puerto Ricans gather from all over the island to walk. Not in protest, or as a punishment, but as a community of nature lovers who set out each weekend for 2 months (February and March) to walk across the island. Known as the Caminata Panorámica, this annual walk goes coast to coast across the island of Puerto Rico. Starting in the east coast town of Maunabo and crossing under the mountain region of the island to complete the walk at the large town of Mayaguez.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic | First Time Travel Guide

Approaching the coast line of Dominican Republic, visitors are greeted with lush green tropical landscape along the jagged coast line at the edge of the little town of Punta Cana. The resorts are sparsely dotted along the coast. The thatched roof airport terminal of Punta Cana is reminiscent of vintage postcards of early air travel to far off tropical destinations.

Scuba Dive Excursion at Isla Catalina, Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic offers a wide variety of adventure sports, including Scuba Diving, hiking, and swimming (all of my favorite activities). On our recent trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic we planned for all of these activities with scuba diving at the top of my to do list!

Isla Catalina Scuba Experience DR JenThereDoneThat

From Punta Cana there are a few dive sites north & south of the island. The south side is known for calmer water and better visibility,so I looked south for a good dive and snorkel spot. I am a huge fan of wall dives, and the wall at Isla Catalina sounded perfect with scuba, snorkel, beach day complete with souvenir shopping and hot BBQ lunch.

Healthcare in Puerto Rico | Medical Care Living in Puerto Rico

Helpful health tips and information for both visitors and new residents living in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is a US Territory, and it seems more like a foreign country when it comes to healthcare. Here is everything about medical care, prescriptions, and laboratory tests that I wish I had known when we moved to Puerto Rico. Here are some helpful health tips and information for both visitors and new residents living in Puerto Rico.

Living in Puerto Rico - Medical and Healthcare information

Healthcare for Visitors

The first time that my parents visited Puerto Rico, my Father ran out of his prescription insulin. His prescription and corresponding refill was through Walmart and we assumed that not only would Walmart US and Walmart Puerto Rico be the same, that also the US Medicare healthcare program would be the same. We never did get consistent information, but long story short, the insurance would not cover his prescribed insulin but did offer a lower dose insulin (without prescription) for less than the regular co-pay. The crisis was diverted and now my Father always verifies his insulin and all medication before coming to visit Puerto Rico.

Mount Nevis Hotel Review | Best Monkey Watching in St. Kitts and Nevis

When the Nevis Tourism organization invited me to visit the island on a Familiziation trip (FAM trip) I was excited and a bit nervous. They arrange dining, activities, and most important, the hotel accommodations. I am both a control freak and a pampered princess. I am very particular about my privacy, location, amenities, safety, and above all actually enjoying my travel accommodations!

Mount Nevis Hotel Review

Not only did the Mount Nevis Hotel live up to my standards, it exceeded expectations! From the moment we drove down the windy road leading to the property I had an immediate sign of relief and comfort in this darling boutique hotel property.
