One of my favorite festivals in Puerto Rico is the Feria Agrícola Nacional del Valle de Lajas! This is no ordinary agriculture festival! What makes this festival so fantastic? It is agriculture education meets food festival with music & entertainment, helicopter rides, petting zoo, and mini safari!
Learn about agriculture in Puerto Rico, farm animals, meet local farmers, see the latest tractors and farm equipment, pony rides, mini petting zoo, food & drinks, and exotic animals on the drive through safari.
Event information is posted on the official Feria Agricola Lajas Facebook page for the upcoming summer event held on July 4-7, 2024. The upcoming schedule is usually announced 1-2 months in advance.
The festival is usually held twice a year, April and July, but exact dates and durations of the festival vary year to year.
The massive fairgrounds are part of the Western Hay Farm in Lajas, Puerto Rico on the far southwest corner of the island. There are no major hotels or uber / lyft services, and absolutely worth getting a rental car to include on your visit! Located between Guanica and Cabo Rojo, there are plenty of nearby activities as well as some nice boutique hotels & short-term rentals.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, and sturdy clothes to really experience the festival. It can get dusty and you will be around real live animals, so this family friendly festival is a great day out on the farm!
More Festivals Throughout the Year
These beautiful fairgrounds are also home to several other festivals year round, including the annual Festival de la Chiringa kite festival in February.
The family friendly annual festival is free to attend, with a small parking fee. Bring your own kite or buy one at the festival. There are carnival rides & entertainment, local handcrafts, food, mini petting zoo and agriculture exhibits (almost a mini version of the larger safari & agriculture festival).
