One of the best kept secrets in Arizona is the growing wine making community. My Sister and I recently took a girl’s getaway trip to Sedona, and I made sure to include Page Springs Cellars on the road trip. Page Springs is located between Sedona and Cottonwood, just 10 miles southwest of downtown Sedona.
Page Springs is a small, family owned vineyard. The grapes are grown in vineyards surrounding the Cellar and nearby land, sectioned by varietal. Breaking from Arizona expectations, Page Springs is most similar to the Mediterranean climate, without as much humidity.
The vineyard and Tasting Room are expanded from my last visit several years ago. There is now ample covered parking and a lower deck for wine events. The front porch seating and upper deck patio are heated for year round enjoyment. The lower deck is closed in winter. We sat outside on the upper patio in December sipping wine. Ah, glorious!
Before we started our first wine flight, we met a few Members of the Page Springs wine club. They were telling us about a recent Member’s only wine dinner held in the cellar. Later, I asked one of the winemakers for a quick peak at the Cellar.
Page Springs produces some very good wines. I prefer the dry, rich flavors while my Sister prefers a little more fruity. We both enjoyed our wine flight selected for our tasting. The staff at Page Springs is helpful for selecting wine flights and recommending specific wines to try.
The menu is also expanded from my last visit. We filled up on two delicious appetizers (Bar Snacks on the menu) that left no room for anything other than wine. We enjoyed our last glasses of wine in the lounge. Live music is scheduled for certain weekend nights and we thoroughly enjoyed the one man band Dave Manning on keyboard and harmonica.
Tours of the vineyard and cellar are available several times a day on the weekends and include wine flight and souvenir glass. Be sure to check their website or call for exact times and availability, we just missed the last tour of the day. Spring and Summer are best for vineyard tours to see the lush green vineyard and perfect temperatures to enjoy being outside in Arizona.
While completing our wine purchase, we each found a few reasonably priced hand crafted items for Christmas gifts. If only all of my gift buying was this easy!
